Janey will speak about an innovative implementation pilot that takes the Lifespan and the National Suicide Prevention Trials approach one step further by focusing on a specific community gatekeeper. Pharmacists are highly visible health professionals and come into constant contact with those with mental health issues and suicide risk. They are also able to facilitate means restriction and identify risk.
The project was co-designed with pharmacists, and is a collaborative between Black Dog, Curtin University and two peak bodies, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, and funded by Primary Health Tasmania.
